Rapper Lil Tjay was arrested on Monday night in connection with Offset’s shooting in Hollywood, FL.
The Seminole Police Department shared in a statement to Variety that the musician, whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested and “charged in connection with the incident that took place Monday night at a valet area outside of Seminole Hard Rock.” He was booked into Broward County Jail on a disorderly conduct — affray charge, with bail set at $500. He was also charged with a traffic violation that carries a $2,500 bond.
According to Seminole PD spokesperson Gary Bitner, the incident started as a fight and a second person was detained at the scene but has not been charged. Rumors circulated on social media last night that Lil Tjay was directly involved in Offset’s shooting, leading his attorney Dawn M. Florio to deny the reports.
“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting which occurred at the Valet Area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood which resulting in non-life threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos,” she said in a statement shared with Variety. “Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors.”
Lil Tjay and Offset have had issues in the past, stemming from comments that the former said about the latter during a livestream in early 2025. “Offset broke,” said Tjay, claiming that Offset had a “gambling addiction” and that he owed him money.
TMZ first reported on Monday evening that the Migos member had been shot near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. In a statement to TMZ, the Seminole Police Department said: “We are aware of an incident that occurred at a valet area after 7 p.m. Monday outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood that resulted in non-life threatening injuries to an individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.”
The police spokesperson added, “Seminole Police were on site immediately and the situation was contained quickly. Two individuals have been detained by police. The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure and there is no threat to the public. Operations continue as normal.”
A spokesperson for the rapper confirmed to Variety that Offset was being treated for a gunshot wound and was under observation. “We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care,” his rep said. “He is stable and being closely monitored.”
Offset is best known as one-third of the rap trio Migos, which he founded alongside his cousin Takeoff and Quavo. In 2019, Offset decided to go solo and has since released three studio albums and a mixtape. In 2022, Takeoff was shot and killed in Houston at the age of 28.
